How to :: use config files to create a story

At Toucan we’ve noticed that point and click can only take you so far. If you want to built Toucan application balzingly fast you should take a look at how to do it using configuration files.

From the staging banner, select Files.

Download the front_configand etl_config files and open them with your favorite text editor (we recommand Visual Studio Code).

Add data to your application

ETL

First you need data, head over to the etl_config file. Define there the details of your data source. In this exemple we have csv files as data sources.

Then upload your updated etl_config file.

Data

From the staging banner, select Data.

Add your csv files by droping them on the corresponding tile.

Run a preprocess operation; wait for a positive feedback

Create your first story

Now let’s create something with this data!

From the staging banner, select Files.

Open the front_config file.

Create a chart

Create a chart and attach it to this new chapter.

Then upload your updated front_config file.

Admire your work

Move back to the application and reload your page : congrats you’ve built your first toucan story using the advanced mode!
